Our Heritage
Our country’s heritage came at a great price through the lives of dedicated patrons serving the cause of freedom: Free from the control of the old world to serving one another and to worship their Lord in a new land, America. Our country was founded on Godly principles and God wanted to bless these new pilgrims with the freedoms they hungered for.
The painting “Our Heritage” came about from listening to leaders and Native speakers at a Conference in Duluth MN. They talked of the strong inheritance we were given from those that faced hardships in years past. As I sought the Lord on this issue, He took me to the founding of our Country and there were certain individuals that impressed me as key role players in forming the United States of America. These thirteen patriarchs were from the years 1400 to 1800 with the primary figures around 1776.
This painting reflects the 9/11 Twin Towers collapsing behind St Paul’s Chapel in New York City. People are fleeing for shelter, while everyday activities are happening around St. Paul’s Chapel, taken from a webcam in Google earth. I chose 13 patriarchs to represent distinct aspects of the growth of our nation’s history showing our diverse cultures.
